This walk will take you from Alingsås city center to the lake Mjörn and back. On our way we will walk through the beautiful Nolhaga park with it’s mansion building, Nolhaga castle. We will also pass by the farm area, the allotment gardens and the wetlandarea, Kongo. We will walk along the river, Säveån, where we can watch birds, boats and maybe we will see the steamboat Herbert, before we reach the long Mjörn beach. Mjörn is 55 km² large and thereby the second largest lake in the county, Västergötland. The Mjörn beach is wide and shallow and on windy days an appreciated spot for wind- and kite surfers. Along the lake we also find a large bird reserve and a birdwatching tower, which we will visit, before we return to the city.
The walk takes approximately 2 hours, with a few shorter stops. We can do a brisk walk without break for refreshments or bring our own refreshments along or stop for a coffee or lunch break on the way. Let us know what your prefer!
